MANCHESTER FENCING CLUB Age is no barrier at M.F.C.although we are unable to accept as members people under the age of eight, due to local authority rules. To start all you require is tracksuit bottoms, a T-shirt a warm fleece/hoodie type top, trainers, plenty to drink (non fizzy) and bags of energy. All other equipment can be provided by the Club. There are three weapon types.the foil, the epee and the sabre. At M.F.C. you would normally, but not always, start with the foil. If you enjoy competing the North West Region runs many competitions, for all age groups throughout the year at weekends and there are also national competitions for the more advanced. If you are a bit older there are Veterans Competions and Veterans Medals are there to be won at most Tournaments Manchester Fencing Club has several members who compete at National and International level both for their region and as members of the National Team. We would like to think that we never lose sight of the reason why we started fencing in the first place- we wanted to get fit and have fun and fencing is fun no matter what level you do it at. |
